Orange Chocolate Truffles
Healthy orange chocoalte truffles. Vegan and Glutenfree
- 1 can black beans (240-250g/8.4-8.8oz drained)
- 3 tbsp maple syrup (or agave syrup)
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tsp orange zest
- 2-3 tsp orange juice
- ¼ tsp rum essence
- 100-150 grams dark chocolate
Drain and rinse the black beans and pat them dry.
Put the beans in a food processor, add the maple syrup og blend it well. Or you can put the beans in a bowl, add the maple syrup and mash the beans with a fork or potato masher.
Add cacao powder and orange zest and blend/mix well. Then add the rum essence and orange juice and blend/mix it all well.
The dough should be somewhat wet, but it should still be possible to carefully form it into balls. Put the dough in the fridge for 10-15 minutes.
Form the mixture into 15-20 balls. You might want to wash your hands a couple of times while forming the dough into balls. Set them in the fridge for another 15-20 minutes.
Melt the chocolate and dip the truffle balls in the chocolate. Put them on a piece of prachment paper and sprinkle with desiccated coconut (See TIP below in the notes)
Let the chocolate harden and store the truffles in an airtight container in the fridge.
TIP: Grate a carrot and press the juice out of the grated carrot with your hand. Add a little of the carrot juice to some desiccated coconut and mix it well. This gives you some nice orange-yellow sprinkles to your orange truffles.

Are dark chocolate chips vegan? This is a question that I’m asked quite often, and thankfully the answer to that is YES! Cacao (which chocolate is made of) itself is vegan. While milk is sometimes added (so do look at the ingredients), there are many brands of dark chocolate that are vegan and vegan chocolate even vegan milk chocolate is becoming much easier to find 🍫
